DR. LYNNETTE SINCLAIRSMITH

VETERINARIAN / OWNER

Dr. Lynnette SinclairSmith was raised in Calgary and has always had a love for all animals. She started as a receptionist at the Westhills Veterinary Clinic, then went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, with Great Distinction, in 2004.

After graduating, Lynnette spent the first two years working as a small animal emergency veterinarian, then returned to the Westhills Veterinary Clinic in 2006 as an associate veterinarian. She has a passion for internal medicine and cherishes the time she spends with her clients and patients, striving to provide the best care possible. 

Lynnette has most recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a co-owner of the practice in October 2016. 

When not putting in long hours at the practice, she enjoys spending time travelling with her family (usually in the hot sun), paddle boarding, playing the piano, and absolutely adores her fur family (Motz, Chips and Chowder).

DR. SUZANNE ADAMS-HIRD

VETERINARIAN / OWNER

A proud, born and raised Calgarian, Dr. Suzanne Adams-Hird attended the University of Calgary, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Zoology. She then went on to attend the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, graduating with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, with Great Distinction, in 1992.

Working part-time at various clinics across Calgary and Canmore, Suzanne spent rich years raising her busy family, while never losing her interest, desire or skills in caring for creatures great and small.

In 2001, Suzanne joined the Westhills Veterinary Clinic,  providing locum services and appreciating the diverse and interesting clients and patients the clinic enjoys. She proudly became co-owner of the practice in October of 2016, fulfilling a longtime goal.

In addition to her time at the clinic, Suzanne is a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, mentoring the next generation of animal care professionals. Suzanne’s areas of keen interest lie in soft tissue surgery and dentistry.

When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, her pets (Murphy, Jack and Jill), travelling, photography and scrapbooking.

DR. HAYLEY ROBBINS

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Hayley Robbins started volunteering at the Westhills Veterinary Clinic during her first year of veterinary school and then joined the practice as a full-time veterinarian in the summer of 2017. She graduated from the University of Calgary Veterinary Medicine program with distinction. During her studies she gained experience in various fields of veterinary medicine, including small animal general practice, small animal emergency medicine and veterinary research.

Hayley grew up in Calgary and is very happy to be practicing in her hometown. When she is not at the clinic (which is rare!), she really enjoys cooking and even did a cooking class in Italy. She loves to spend time with her family and her family dog, Frisbee, who is an 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier mix. Hayley loves all aspects of small animal veterinary practice and is very excited to be part of the Westhills veterinary team.

DR. JILL GIRGULIS

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Jill Girgulis completed two years of an undergraduate degree in neuroscience before pursuing veterinary medicine at the University of Calgary. Throughout her veterinary degree, she spent time at various clinics in Alberta, and has been interested in small animal medicine since day one. Jill graduated in 2020 and joined the team at Westhills Veterinary Clinic in the fall of 2020, and is excited to have the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with her new clients and their animals. Living in Calgary her whole life, Jill grew up in a busy family of three sisters and several dogs and cats over the years. The menagerie currently includes two senior cats, a Border Collie, and an Australian Shepherd.
Jill is also a longtime writer and contributes articles to local arts organizations, in addition to writing humor pieces, movie reviews, and short fiction. She enjoys attending classical concerts and watching movies, and is always looking for any opportunity to appreciate the artistic talents of others.

NICOLE

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Nicole graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Olds College in November 2011. She joined our team when she moved from Moose Jaw to Calgary in 2013 and has been working here ever since.

She has always loved working in a small animal practice where she can really get to know the clients and their pets. She has huge soft spot for cats and a special interest in anesthesia, dentistry, surgery, patient nursing and client education.

In her spare time she enjoys reading, yoga, cooking/baking and spending time with friends and family. She lives with her 2 adopted cats, Thomas and Parker.

TAM

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Raised in Calgary, Tam started working part time as a receptionist at the Westhills Veterinary Clinic in 2001. During that time, she also graduated with a BSc (Chemistry) and BEd from the University of Calgary. After spending time as a High School Science teacher, she realized her passion was in veterinary medicine. She returned to school (Olds College) and obtained her Animal Health Diploma (with distinction) in 2010.  Although she enjoys all aspects of her job, her special interests are dentistry and surgery. 

Her favourite things about the clinic are the interesting cases seen daily, the great relationships developed with patients and the fun team she gets to work with.

A fun fact about Tam is that she’s an avid scuba diver with her Dive-master certification. She’s dove the Great Barrier Reef, Red Sea, Caribbean and Mexico. She even participated in a shark feeding! She loves adventure and has skydived and backpacked through Europe. 

When not at work, Tam enjoys camping with her family, and competing in flyball with Sydney, her Jack Russell Terrier and Dash, her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.

CHARLENE

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Charlene works as a registered veterinary technologist for Westhills Veterinary Clinic. She was raised in Calgary. Charlene lives with her husband, two daughters and their cat named Sampson. Charlene has worked at the clinic since 2003 and graduated from the animal health technology program at Olds College in 2007.

She loves working with all the staff at the clinic and enjoys the challenges each day brings. Her interests lie in feline medicine, dentistry, and nutrition. In her spare time she likes to go camping and spend time doing activities with her children.

GARNET

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST ASSISTANT

Garnet has worked at Westhills Veterinary Clinic for over 11 years as a veterinary technologist assistant. She has worked in the veterinary industry for over 22 years and has a huge passion for helping animals and their owners. She loves doing the "little extras" for the patients to help with their comfort and improve their quality of life.

Garnet is married to her fantastic husband and they have two young boys. She also has a pug named Frankie and her cat Jasmine (who is diabetic) which keeps her very busy. She loves her time on the weekend at the clinic and really enjoys being a part of such an amazing team.

SIERRA

TECHNICIAN ASSISTANT

Sierra was born and raised in Calgary, and has always had a deep admiration for animals. After achieving her Veterinary Office Assistant Diploma in 2016, Sierra started her career by gaining experience at an emergency animal hospital. Sierra is taking her passion a step further, as she is currently studying to become a Registered Veterinary Technician.
Sierra enjoys hiking in the mountains, camping, travelling, photography, spending time with her family and her rescue cat, Mercedes.
Sierra is excited to be apart of the wonderful team at Westhills Veterinary Clinic, and looks forward to connecting with both clients and patients.

KEELEY

TECHNICIAN ASSISTANT

Keeley was born in Calgary and has always had a passion for animals. She has been working at the Westhills Veterinary Clinic since 2019 and has dreams to become a veterinarian in the future. 

 Keeley is studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Calgary. When not at the clinic or doing schoolwork, Keeley volunteers at the Cochrane Humane Society to give back to the community and spend time with amazing and loving animals.

During her free time, Keeley enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as her two dogs, Luca and Ella, and two cats, Floyd and Kipper. 

Keeley thoroughly enjoys her work at the clinic and getting the opportunity to learn something new every day.

JANET

OFFICE MANAGER

Janet has lived in Calgary all her life, and she has always had a love for animals. 
She brings to us 20 plus years of experience managing a team, with many years focused on small animal nutrition. 
Janet enjoys meeting pet parents and their fur babies, and loves that every day in the clinic is different; with the opportunity to always learn something new. 
When Janet is not at the clinic she enjoys cooking, baking and travelling with her husband.

KRISTIN

RECEPTIONIST

Kristin is currently on maternity leave, enjoying time with her new son. She has been working at Westhills Veterinary Clinic since 2010 but has been working in the veterinary industry for over 20 years. She loves all animals, but has a special fondness for cats. You will find her smiling face at the front of the clinic on Saturdays. Her favourite part of working at the clinic is being able to see and get to  know all the wonderful pets and clients. 

Kristin is also the owner and operator of a local preschool in Calgary which keeps her very busy. She is married to her amazing husband, Jordan, and they have three wonderful cats, Maui, Tipsy and Hopson.

KYLIE

RECEPTIONIST

Born and raised in Calgary, Kylie has grown up with a passion for working with animals.  She attended the University of Saskatchewan majoring in animal science for 2 years, before starting work at the Westhills Veterinary Clinic. 

You will find Kylie working at the front desk with a smile on her face.  She loves meeting new patients and doing her best to work with and get to know the clients.

Kylie grew up show jumping and working with horses.  When she’s not at the clinic, Kylie’s either spending time with her own fur babies, a Goldendoodle named Pippin and a cat named Poe, or surrounded by horses out in the mountains.

EMMA

RECEPTIONIST/TECHNICIAN ASSISTANT

Raised in Calgary, Emma initially attended Mount Royal University for Education Elementary while working at a kennel and doggy daycare, where she quickly realized her passion was working with animals and their owners. She went on to work at a small animal practice as a Technician Assistant and took various locum positions at other general practices in the city to learn the most she can about the industry. She is grateful to have received a full scholarship to become a Registered Veterinary Technician, which she is currently working to complete online, while maintaining two part-time positions at Westhills and another clinic. Emma aspires to expand her knowledge and experience in the industry at one of the emergency and referral practices, possibly in a specialty, once she has completed her degree.
With over 5 years of experience working in the animal health industry, Emma’s favourite aspects of her job are observing and assisting with surgeries and building bonds with owners over the love and care for their animals.
She likes to hike with her family when she has a day off and will often “borrow” her roommate’s dogs to take for walks with friends.

FRANCESCA

RECEPTIONIST

Francesca works at Westhills Veterinary Clinic as a veterinary receptionist. She acquired her certificate of Veterinary Medical and Administrative Assistant through the online program at the Animal Behaviour College, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Science for Biology and Chemistry at the University of Calgary.
An avid reader and nature-lover, she is passionate about education, contributing her writing skills and talents in visual arts to create stories and infographics for children about conservation and sustainability.
In her free time, you would find her volunteering, going on nature hikes, performing songs or dances on stage, modelling, or teaching English to kids in China. She is enthusiastic about making genuine connections with people, their families and their pets!

JESSYLYN

RECEPTIONIST

Jessylyn moved to Canada from the Philippines in 2010, and has made Calgary her home for the past 10 years. Ever since Jessylyn was a young child, she has always been passionate about taking care of animals. 

In 2014, Jessylyn graduated from the Veterinary Technician Assistant Program at Olds College.  Since graduating, Jessylyn has worked at an emergency practice, a small animal practice, a doggie day care, and at a dog grooming facility.

When Jessylyn is not working, she loves travelling, snowboarding, and spending time with her family, her friends and her own adorable little pack; which includes Raven, Sanders, Colonel, Penelope, and Tiffany.
